Never ever owned one! Don't like them one bit. I wonder how many I might have bought over the last 25 years. Did you know they were originally called "radar ovens"?
    Nice to save.

Smiley Mum, I would trust that link about as far as I could throw it. Doubtless some of the information is correct, but even though I'm not a physicist, a lot looks like garbage to me. I'd try to find some information from more reputable charities, government agencies etc if you can.

I would loose eveything in my kitchen before I gave up my micro. What else is the size of a bread bin and does everything your hob, oven, toaster, kettle, slo-cooker does and rice cooker does? Mine is over 25yrs old and runs for at least an hour a day. Maybe it should take a trip to one of yours for a wee rest:D

You got a way to make pizza in the micro, MATH? (I'm thinking the pizzas you buy ready-made, probably, they're always on reduced at sainsburys)... you can buy micropizzas... so is there a way to cook normal pizza properly?

I've only bought 2 microwaves in 25 years and the only reason the first needed replacing was because I broke the catch on the door and it was cheaper to buy a new oven than have it repaired

My microwave - bought only a couple of months ago - cheapie from Tesco - is looking very sorry for itself.

While I was out my 19 year old decided to defrost a bread roll in it - she gave it five minutes on high!!!!!!

Roll caught fire - kitchen full of smoke - microwave was discoloured and still smells smoky.

I came home - went potty - then put lemon and water in microwave for a few minutes and that has helped clean it out.

Next door neighbours seemingly got a good view of the chaos and dread to think whar they must make of it.

Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

We won our microwave at a local school fate around 3-4 years ago. We only really use it for defrosting, hot drinks, and cooking frozen veg quickly. Like others, if it did break down I would rush to replace it. One of the only reasons that I keep it, is that we do use it every now and then, and if we did ditch it the spot that its in would only be used to stack catalogues and post. While its there I'm forced to be more tidy.

The best way to cook piza in the micro IMO is to pre heat a browning tray. Slap the pizza on it (frozen) and cook on med with the grill at full power. HTH
