Help with Tax please

My hubby has asked this on another site but no replies... will anyone know please...

I have been with a new employer since January 2012 but not given a p45 or filled out a p60 & issued to my current employer. Does this mean I am on the wrong tax code? Or is there a chance I am on the right code anyway? How do I find out what I should be on?

    What code are you on?

Do you have any taxable benefits - company car etc?

Did you get a P60 from your current employer - issued in April or May of this year?

Why did you not give them a P45 when you joined?

Do you still have another job which you started before you started with this employer?

0T is the replacement for the old BR tax code - it is intended as a temporary code until your correct one has been allocated. You need to complete a P46 form.

Well if you were working for them at the end of the tax year (5 April 2012) you should have received a P60 if they deducted any tax during the year.

I also asked added some more questions to my post but you were already responding to the one question.

You get a p45 at the end of employment so that would have come from your old employer.

A P60 is not filled out by you, by is give to you by your current employer.

You need to fill out a P46 and give it to your new employer.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

So have you now given this to your new employer? If you have then I don't think you need to fill in a P46. Once they have processed the P45 you should go onto a more reasonable tax code. If that hasn't happened by your next pay day you should take it up with your payroll department, and you should also be asking why you didn't get a P60 (did other people get one, or have they not issued any at all?).

The problem is probably with the time delay between starting in the new job and getting the P45 - perhaps not until the current tax year and past the time when these can be used in the new tax year.
