Facebook Competitions

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I would like to ask why Facebook competitions aren't posted on there own so they don't get mixed up with others.I don't use Facebook and have no intention of doing so even though many promoters are now using it.

This has been suggested before, but if Facebook had its own Board then it would follow that Twitter and Pinterest would also need to be separated, so it wouldn't really work. Many posters indicate in the title whether a comp requires Facebook, if everyone did it there wouldn't be a problem.

    Good Luck with your comping.

  • Don't understand why separating Fakebook and Twitter wouldn't work, surely it would make it easier. Thanks for replying BarnabySue.

I think we need to remember that MSE is a whole lot more than just the Competition Boards and the team running it is not huge. There are also only 3 Board Guides who do the job voluntarily so the more places that comps are put, the longer it takes them to see that everything is running smoothly. Just my view :)

  • As Sue mentioned, there will be far too many boards if they were to start having sub-sections of type of comp, also some might go in more than one and then that could lead to dupes. You can see which comps are FB so very easy to not select them if its not something you want to enter just in the same way that I dont want to enter comps for tickets, I just dont select them to start off with.
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

If you don't use FB I can see how it would make sense to have these comps separated, but as someone who does do FB comps, I would hate to have to wade through the ordinary comps, then start again with the FB ones, then start again with Twitter ones, and then with whatever other categories people choose to separate.

I don't do family/kids comps, so for me it would be better to have these posted separately. See what I mean? It's actually best and easiest just to have one place for all comps. There will never be one system that suits everyone.

I have asked before if it was possible to increase the search facility to skip key words (like Facebook, kids, e.g.) That way people could exclude whichever comps they wanted from a search. All it would take would be for posters to get used to posting standard search symbols

    [FB]
    [TW]
    [Kids]
    [Fam]
    [London]
    [Gerbils]

Ok, perhaps not so much call for gerbil comps, but you never know ;)
