employment contract help please

hi all im new to this forum idea so apologies if i have not done the right thing. can anyone give me advice on the following?
daughter had interview for job was told by the manager at the time she had the job to work part time until she finished college which was within 3 months of commencing job.
then after a probationary period of 3 months she would get a full time 40hour contract. she has done the 3 months + and has had her meeting etc with the new manager who is happy her performance etc and that her probationary period was now up.
she has now been told that she is NOT getting a permanant 40 hour contract and she will be staying on the "zero hour contract" although since starting her job she has been working at least 40 hours per week . she has been told that she will get plenty hours work till christmas then after that she may not get any hours.
Manager that interviewed her and the head therapist at the time both stated that she would be on 40hr contract after 3 mnths they have both since left and new manager has said there is no proof of the 40hr contract agreement.
The company have since interviewed and given another person a40hr contract who starts with the company next week.
hope this all makes sense and someone out there can give us some advice. many thanks.

    Sorry to sound harsh, but until she has served 2 years with this employer she has no protection under current employment legislation (apart from decisions that amount to unlawful discrimination) as this government changed the law in April 2012. What this means in practice is that the employer can pretty much do as they like, and if she objects they can terminate her contract.
    I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

    If doing overtime and going to be vastly over 40hours, then i'd prefer to be on zero hours as the holiday entitlement would be proportionate to the hours worked and not just the flat contracted hours.

    Come after christmas i'd press for a 40 hour contract and if they said no, then the hours did not materialise, then i'd just look for another job.
