Using up old candles?

Hi everyone, is there any avid candle makers out there?
I have lots of lovely candles which have unforunately burnt down the middle but I have loads of left over wax round the edges (does that make sense!?).
It seems such a waste to throw away so much wax, does anyone know if I can melt it down and buy wicks from somewhere to make new candles? Is there any tecnique to this?
Would love to hear any ideas! Thanks in advance
