Asking for a copy of my Birth Certificate....

I've got an email saying I won the Bosch IXO Cordless drill, which I'm happy about :)
They've asked me to email back and send a copy of some Proof of ID. I know because of the item that I have to be over 18 years of old but I'm uncomfortable to do this.

I've taken a photo of my Birth Certificate but blackened out all of the writing except for my name, date of birth and the date and signature of it.
Is this acceptable?
Am I being too over-cautious? lol.

Thanks x
 Thank you to everyone!

I've been asked to prove my age before (just because the terms and conditions stated that you had to be over 18 rather than the prize item requiring you to be over 18) and sent in a copy of my driving licence but blanked out literally everything apart from my name and date of birth. I would blank out the signature and date of your birth certificate too if it was me. There shouldn't be any problems if you don't but i don't give any information that isn't necessary.
