On-call contracts

I work in IT Consultancy, and my employer wants to implement an 'on-call' system. I already work pretty hard and end up working in the evenings frequently.
Does anyone have any guidance on what rates of pay you should expect; both for being on call and also for being called out.
There wouldn't be any travel involved
The typical salary in our firm is £45k for 'Subject matter experts' such as myself
I'm concerned about whether being on-call will leave me frazzled - I've done it once or twice in the past (but not paid extra) and I've ended up on the phone/working for hours in the middle of the night. This is going to be a permanent 24/7/365 cover in a rota.
