PAYE employee here - do I have to give notice?

I've been working at a company for 4 years - initially as a freelancer and then as PAYE.

I believe under PAYE my employer has to give me a months notice if they want to get rid of me. Do I have to do the same back?

No, in the absence of a contractual requirement for more you only have to give one week's notice regardless of how long you have been employed.

It is only the notice required FROM the employer that goes up by one week per year to a maximum of 12.

The statutory requirements would apply as outlined above if there is no contract or there is no mention in the contract.

Obviously if there is a contract then this can change the statutory requirements either extending or shortening the required notice you must give them
