Marscapone Cheese - "consume within 1 day" - really?

I use marscapone cheese in a lemon tart recipe. Normally I use a whole tub but yesterday I made some mini bite-size tarts and only used a quarter of one. I was planning on making another batch at the weekend.

Then I noticed that on the marscapone cheese tub it says "consume within 1 day of opening".

Surely not?! It's cheese! Even fresh cream lasts two days normally.

If it looks alright and smells alright, I assume I can keep using it (will be 4 days from opening)? It's going into lemon tarts which get baked (it makes a baked cheesecake style tart filling)...

Yes I probably would too. I bought some mince pies on offer without checking the date, 25th oct! But I wanted them for Xmas. Am sure they'll be ok...
