Jobseekers and temporary christmas job - help?

I went for an interview on Saturday for a temporary Christmas job in a card shop. The woman who interviewed me contacted me yesterday saying I have the job.
The job is a 0 hours contract so some weeks I might get 0 hours and the next I might get 40. This means I would have to stay on jobseekers except when I go over 16 hours. Does anyone know the links to information about the rules for this? I have done it once before a couple of years ago but cannot remember the rules and how I can still get jobseekers?
I want to accept the job so that I have something new for my cv but I am not sure I am allowed to take the job while still receiving jobseekers.
