    Just reading through your posts - well done for being so orgonised. I supposed the fact that you are clued up is a bonus and then the fact your GF is aware of your financial situation is an added bonus.

    I was only logging on to tell you of a website called envirophone - they give you money for decent mobiles. Log on and type in your phone type and they will tell you how much you will get for it. you can choose cash or argos vouchers.

    everylittle helps

  • How is GS getting on with her debt free ways? U were so kind to help her out like that, I hope she's had her LBM and won't start all over again...
    Sarah x

    Mmmmm .. Didnt realise GS had taken cash from her credit card, so when i paid off her debt, it had accumulated 12p on interest. Not a lot, however I,ve asked her twice to phone up and ask for it to be refunded (still not done) otherwise she will be charged another £80 interest :eek: Clearly has not learned!! I've transferred another 50p over to clear the account. Im hoping it reaches there in time (because of weekend) so fingers crossed.

    On the other hand, GS has not used her credit cards and is working longer hours; shes hoping the two combined will help her pay the debt off even quicker!!

  • Looking around the flat, i noticed a lot of loose change so....

    I have collected all loose change in sight, the grand total being (....DrumRoll Please....) £11.78 ;)

    The challenge, to spend ALL the loose change in everyday items, before making a Cash Withdrawal.

    Denominations Are :

    1p=54p
    2p=74p
    5p=£1.20
    10p=£2.70
    20p=£4.60
    50p=£1
    £1=£1

    Im kinda thinking that this will prevent us withdrawing £30 and having even more change around. Plus, with the O/draft being as it is at the moment, not withdrawing money would be a massive help!

    It might also teach us a lesson in money management - just HOW FAR can we make this £11.78 go??

    I bet u can make it last ages. I always get the loose change from around the house, well bedroom and living room mainly, as OH empties his pockets when he gets home from work in the morning, so I nab all the small stuff. I also find the sofa a good place to look after he's be out on the town - he falls asleep and money rolls down the back. Come the morning, he can't remeber how much money he came home with anyway (also good for *borrowing* the odd tenner out his wallet :o ...... and the car, he ALWAYS manages to loose some money in the car... Finders Keepers :D

    Keep us updated with how far ur £11.78 goes...

    Got some Virgin Money Credit Card Cheques through the post today. Now, normally i wouldnt entertain the thought of looking at them, however, the offer seems pretty good. £4375 (95% of credit limit) available at 0% until March 2008. £75 capped fee. Have decided to pay off the Virgin Card in full, once paid off , will transfer £4375 into o/draft, saving ourselves some £350-£400 of o/draft interest. YAY :j

    Going to phone up LloydsTSB Customer Service Centre to see if i have a same (similar offer) available. Obviously, i have £9k limit so wont need as much (or maybe i will enter into the murky world of stooooozing ... Mwhahahaha )

  • Well ! -
    Had the interview today, could have gone better so im a bit bummed about it :(

    And as if my day couldnt get any worse, i found out today that the overtime i 'banked' from last month was not submitted to payroll in time (not my fault) and now i wont get paid it until July :mad: - Everyone in our team is affected; im hoping management will agree to 'sub' us our overtime and can pay it back next month!

    On a positive note, the payment to virgin should clear tomorrow, which will mean i will be able to pay the 'promo cheque' into our current account; transferring £4375 of our £10k o/draft onto the credit card.

    Sorry to hear you didn't feel the interview went as hoped. Did they tell you there and then about getting/not getting the job, or do you have to wait?

    If you are still waiting, the very best of luck to you:beer: .

    If it's any consolation:confused: the interviews in which I felt I hadn't done myself justice often resulted in me being offered the job:j . One time I really felt chuffed because I was sure I'd nailed the job of my dreams and then they went and offered it to someone else instead (who had come out of the interview just before me looking as if he wanted to burst into tears:eek: ). We had to sit in the waiting area until they'd seen all 4 of us and deliberated before calling the 'winner' back in.

    Hello, thanks for the message. Having spent the whole day thinking about the interview, i feel a little better about my 'performance' today. I guess its just a lottery now if i get the position or not. They said i will find out within the next 10-14 days if im successful.

    Going to put it right to the back of my mind, totally out of my control now so no need to worry about it! - Sooo, back to being an MSEr today :D On the menu.

    * Pensions - Received my application pack today, looking through it for the product that best fit our needs.
    * Stooozing - Got a 9k credit limit on my Lloyds Card - its just sitting there, wanting to be used :rotfl:
    * Quidco - Going to open a few Bank Accounts today for the free cash :D Also, aware that some Banks offer 'refer a friend' cashback; so will take full advantage of this.

  • Although im really pleased that we have been able to help GS out, im starting to think that we should have done it in stages, rather than all in 1 go. Im thinking 4 lots of £2k (either every month or every other month) would have been the more sensible thing to do; obviously not the MSE thing to (interest rates higher on c/cards than on o/draft)

    I keep looking at my SIG, thinking OMG.... £108k of debt in our name, and even though only (lol) £100k of it is ours, its starting to weigh on me the commitment we have taken on! Even though our S.O.A shows a surplus each month, and as a result the debt should 'fall off', its seems sooo far in the future. I keep going through the figures on my spreadsheet, just to make sure i have everything correct. Im hoping, that when GSs first s/order payment comes through aswell as GF and mines wages (on the 20th) that things will both look and feel brighter.

    Concern over (until the net time i look at my SIG) - back to MSE

    * Pensions - Received my application pack today, looking through it for the product that best fit our needs.

    Have looked over the pension document 3 times, and have decided on the most risky investment available to me. I've 41 + years until i retire, so seems to be the best option as i will have time to recover in the event of any crash in stock/housing markets.

    * Quidco - Going to open a few Bank Accounts today for the free cash :D Also, aware that some Banks offer 'refer a friend' cashback; so will take full advantage of this.

    Opened up an A+L account, some another £50 in the Quidco Account. Im up to £210 Quidco payments :D , all due to be received by July.

  • Been a really slow, dragging week this week :(

    The debt keeps on going up - on the plus side however, GS's first re-payment should be coming through in the next couple of days + GF and I get paid on the 20th.

    I ve spent all my change! :j - found it to be a really useful exercise.

    I ve also discovered the joys of Tesco Promo Codes and the amazing offers available. Spent £58 on groceries yesterday and £90 of wine today for £49.99 (spliting this cost in half with a friend - paying £25 each); both with promo codes that gave me £80 of 'clubcard deals' - Im going to save the 'clubcard points' up - i need 25,000, which when converted into 'clubcard deals' will allow me to purchase a £1k watche i have had my eyes on

    I ve got over 2000 points in 2 days - so im well on may way :rotfl:
