PVD How to cope living with this eye problem

Have had a spidery shadow on my left eye for three days now.
I went to the eye casualty dept today on instructions from my doctor besides being a long wait the result is that it is not a detached retina as my doctor feared but posterior vitreous detachment .
Being told that it could take a while to settle down possibly months if ever !! Is quite daunting because I am going crazy with it after three days !!
Anyone have any tips etc on how they have coped with this ?

Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.

I had this a few years ago in my weak eye. It started off with flashing lights and I went to the hospital as you did although the optician thought it was a PVD.
The flashing lights went away but I have always had a lot of floaters since then. I am now very careful with my eyes and take quite a few supplements such as lutein, ginko biloboa, Q10 and cod liver oil. The health of my eyes seems to be fairly good and I think the supplements do help. The only thing you can do is try to ignore the spidery thing and concentrate on the health of your eyes. A good diet with lots of fish and green vegetables will also help.
I have learned to live with my floaters if that is what you have. They are worse in bright daylight but I ignore them even then.
I think you should feel extremely relieved that its not a detached retina and try to think of that every time you feel irritated. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Thank you tesuhoha. I will try ginko, I already take cod liver oil and
fish and leafy greens are foods that I generally eat.
I have an underactive thyroid and borderline diabetes so have to be careful with my diet.
Today I discovered that wearing sunglasses and when reading or on pc wear my reading glasses on top two pairs but it works !!
An odd look but no one can see me while at home and it is reducing my stress level !
I feel better already xLight travels faster than sound.

I'm glad you have found something that helps. It may go away in time anyway but if not you will get so used to it that you will cease to notice it after a while. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
