  • can i ask how you managed to donate to the refuge please? i only ask as i tried desperately to donate my outgrown baby clothes to a refuge a while back having been told by someone that they would probably really appreciate it.

But i found it nigh on impossible to get hold of any contact details for our local refuge, (obviously they have to be careful about giving out info) and when i did get some details, it was for the helpline, so the person i spoke to was only really interested in whether i needed help. she seemed very surprised that i wanted to donate and didn't know how to help. she took my details but no-one ever contacted me. i ended up giving to charity shop but would have preferred them to go direct to a needy family for free.
Try putting them on freecycle or a facebook for sale page but state that you would like them to go to a refuge. I did this when I had enough stuff for about 8 operation christmas child shoeboxes but couldnt afford the postage. A lady contacted me and collected all the items along with some toys. Although I suppose someobody could lie and say they work for a refuge, only thing I can think of though. :)
