Argos 'toy exchange' - free £5

  • I commented because the fact that people were wondering if there was a £35 min spend Shows that somehow they have forgotten that this is for charity.

But that is Argos's fault. Who releases a national commerical in the middle of a well known soap that states at the bottom - please refer to our T&C's and then the website displaying the T&C's doesn't work :o It then take's over 15 hours for these to be released and they are still very vauge. Thats why I commented that it was a frustrating offer :(

Does anyone know if they'll accept teddies/soft toys as part of this? Or anywhere that would? My daughter cleaned out her teddy collection recently & I tried Freecycle but no one wanted them, would be a shame to bin them...

I took all my soft toys to a women and child refuge when I had my clear out years ago. If they didn't have there cardboard tags then they got a 90 degree wash before hand. They were recieved with joy and I was told if they wern't given to the children in the refuge at the time they would go to a charity shop. Might be worth a phone call as I know some charity sop only takes a certain amount of soft toys.
  • I did this today :) Brought a carrier bag full of toys. The man just took them and didnt even look in the bag...just gave me a voucher..... So should think they will take anything.
I made sure I gave a selection of things in good nick and hope they might bring some kiddies some joy. Also I got to get the Present my daughter wants from her xmas list a little cheaper :) So im happy x

  • I work for argos, and we have been told we cannot look in the donation bags, and it doesnt matter if its not toys - as any donation is greatfully recieved by the charity

  • Please please please dont ever throw anything away, always donate to a charity shop.

If it is not sellable or whatever, they can throw it away themselves.

If they cant sell it/dont sell it, then itl be moved to another shop for them to try... even if it doesnt sell after this, items are normally sent abroad, so even if you think its no good, or nobody would want/buy it - donate it!!!! (ex charity shop manager!)

    Hi again,

    Just wanted to add:

We are not to look in the bags that people that donate. We just take them, put them in the special toy box and then give you the voucher.

The toys can be in good condition or even broken as they will be recycled by Barnados.

With regards to the 'no matter how big or small' the toys are please bear in mind it IS for charity.

  • I took in a bag of toys DD had chosen to donate, selection of books, card games, soft toys, dominos and a few other. Not sure my branch fully understood the idea as the guy went through the bag counting them and tried to give me 15 vouchers for the number of toys, DD has been saving for a designa friend so the voucher was to add to her savings. I eventually accepted 5 after insisting i only wanted 1 and used it to buy her doll along with a couple of other. DD (6) and i were pleased to be helping the less fortunate, in another way to our usual ones, but i think if other branches are as unclued up as mine people will be able to take advantage sadly.

i took mine into my local branch today and they looked in my bag before giving me my voucher so it must depend on what each store have been told :)

Ha. They were probably noisy then! We were all told to read the letter before it went live, and it stated 'do not check donation bags, even if you think they are not toys as the charity will accept any donation'

We were told not to open the bags also.
