Argos 'toy exchange' - free £5

Comments

  • It was not directly aimed at anyone in particular but if you were a stranger coming onto this site and seen some of the comments on this then you would think alot of people on here are just money greedy.

I commented because the fact that people were wondering if there was a £35 min spend Shows that somehow they have forgotten that this is for charity.

I also agree that people on here will be helped by the voucher but perhaps people could be more sensitive in the way they talk about a £5 voucher which may i add again is for GIVING a toy for CHARITY. It would help me also but reading peoples comments have put me off it.

But surely how much we spend is irrelevant, the toys we take in are given to the charity not the £5 voucher or the amount we then spend to use that £5 voucher? Yes the reason for taking the toys in may be different for differnt people but the end result is the same - Barnardos get more donated toys.

PS the reason most people come on this site is to save money so i don't think anyone would be shocked to see that is what people are doing

In my opinion your comment says it all. The charity gets toys for rewarding people with £5 vouchers. Your comment however does not reflect on my original post. How self centered people can be when all they want to know is what the minimum spend is on the voucher.

I hope people use this thank you voucher well and the people who need it gets it. But again i will stress, dont let a £5 argos voucher shadow the fact that this is about the people who need charity this christmas!

And you.............. If you feel like ranting or telling anyone to get over themselves then perhaps you should recheck spellings of usernames and i wish you well on trading in your toy for your reward!
  • And just to add. This thread almost shows the happy and friendly side of this site (jeez if only it would)

The only thing you high horse people show is that your out to get a bargain no matter how low you have to go. And may i state only 1 person posted so far stating how much it will help their family member and i sincerly hope they enjoy it! :-)

Sorry for not getting your name correct:)

How is this bargain 'low' ...... Let me get this right so us good people donate a toy to a good cause and get a voucher off spending over £35 at Argos....what is exactly 'low' about this?
If you don't like the 'money saving' threads then take yourself off
you 'high horse' and get off them! :rotfl:

Does anyone know if they'll accept teddies/soft toys as part of this? Or anywhere that would? My daughter cleaned out her teddy collection recently & I tried Freecycle but no one wanted them, would be a shame to bin them...

But Jennyhugggies, it's Argos who give the voucher, not the charity, so surely every toy the charity receives is a bonus and perhaps a toy they may not have ordinarily received. Plus the charity gets good exposure for their very worthy cause.

If anyone is the 'bad guy' here I'd say it's the retailer who is hoping to cash in on the sales this promotion generates off the back of their charity work - after all I'm sure they wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't worth their while!

It's merely another way of running a money off promotion and enticing people to spend money, dressed up in the name of charity. M&S have been running a similar scheme for years whereby they give a money off voucher when you donate M&S clothes to an Oxfam store (£5 off a £35 spend).

When it comes to charity I've always found that those who have the least give, by far, the most. Wanting to make your money go as far as possible doesn't necessarily make you self-centred, mean-spirited or uncharitable which are all despicable attributes, I agree!
