ohh well never mind you made a bailiff very happy today

I can understand that you were scared and intimated and thats why you paid as would most people in your situation if they had the funds and i know how intimidating bailiffs can be so if it works for you that the main thing

I know its only £15 but you can reclaim it back at your leisure now that you have no worries about your BF losing his property and the bailiff coming to your home

it will take a few e-mails and a formal complaint but you can claim it back

and the bailiff gets an extra £15 he is not entitled to

if he does this with every debtor he will be quids in

Midge you pay exactly what the bailiff is legally entitled to no ifs or buts there is nothing he can do once the debt and £42.50 bailiff fees are paid

Hallowitch, just to re-enforce your point. I would normally have advised the OP to do exactly as you said (in fact I do at the beginning), however, her post was at 4 minutes to 10 with a deadline of 10am. In that case, she had little choice...what I wanted to forstall was yet another 'visit' and 'charge' which would be hard to dispute later. You are absolutely right and the Bailliff has made £15 for himself today that he should not have had, but for that much, it seemed hardly worth arguing right there and then. As it stands, the OP can now reclaim that money at her leisure.
Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I do agree that for the sake of £15 and the OP being in a position to pay in full that it was probably the best thing to do in her situation

having said that without a levy on the debtors goods he can visit as many times as he likes but he cant charge further fees
without a levy legislation only allows for 2 visit fees to be
    charged

again without a levy his deadline was a threat nothing more
