The last place I worked the company was very good towards the employers in the sense of holidays, you got the 20days and bank holidays, but they shut down for 2 weeks at christmas and this was given as a extra 2 weeks holiday.
As I understand it this is quite rare in a manufacturing company, but the staff turnover was very low, as the company was well run it could afford to do it.0 -
My last place did too, for certain departments. It only worked out to normally be 3 days a year to save aside as christmas, boxing day we not counted.
For shift workers where their department was open during the period they didnt have to do it.
It was in our contracts from the outset.MFW
