Mis-sold morgage?

I have just been told that my mortgage offer which i agreed to and have had for the last 6 months had the incorrect monthly payment on. They had worked out the figures over a longer period than was stated on my offer.

Can i insist that i keep on paying what they quoted/offered me as it was their mistake?

You asked for a mortgage and you got a mortgage. You havent been mis-sold. What you really mean is that there has been a clerical error which has led to an inaccurate monthly payment.

    No.

What you can request is that they correct the error at no cost to you. This means they either extend your mortgage to allow the monthly figure you have been paying or correct the mortgage so its the same term you applied for but increase the monthly payment.

You may get a small "inconvenience" payment of a hundred or two but thats about it. You could push to have the changes made from this point forward and ask them to write off the last 6 months difference. However, that is about as far as you are going to get.

You are right i did ask for a mortgage and got one, but what i agreed to is not what they are saying is correct. The difference is only a matter of a few pounds but still its different to what they offered me and i agreed to.
I now have to wait and see what they come back and tell me - hopefully i wont have to pay them the difference, we will see!!

Thanks for the replies, they were helpful.
