Been a lurker on here for a while (well tbh I have another identity on MSE that is to much of a give-a-way, hence this 'new' ID) so thought I would start my own 'Diary'.
To begin. I weigh-in at 14st 12Lb 8Oz. I consider myself not so much 'over weight', but '2Ft 3 in. to short for my weight'. I am however, going to go to war with the flab. Having earned over £100 worth of Amazon vouchers for doing surveys, I am looking at adding a 'WiiFitPlus' to my Wii (although a set of Kenko extension tubes for my camera is equally tempting, being a keen photographer).
Mind you the WiiFit can also help my o/h lose a few pounds to.
I work for a major German Company with fingers in many pies and a Senior Management Team that behave like the Gestapo. For instance, they decided back in August that Agency workers are no longer entitled to attend 'Town Hall' meetings (upper management talking to all employees type thing) despite the fact that the Agency staff contribute 60% of the product that goes out the door.
The Agency guys & girls get sent home without pay. The managers must be thick as 2 planks if they think the temps don't ask us permanents what the meeting was about.
Still, at least they don't have to try and stay awake whilst some bloke spends 1 1/2 hours telling us just how well we have done.
Another kick in the goolies is heading the way of the Agency staff when they discover that they will only be getting 40% of the annual bonus (I'm sure this is in breach of the AWR and have pointed the temps in the right direction to find out) so am looking-forward to seeing whether or not things kick off when they realise they have been short-changed.

Hi

Just wanted to mention there is a new Wii system coming out soon. Price may well drop a little when the new one comes out
Also 2nd hand Wii fit boards and games are much cheaper else where, although i do understand you have Amazon vouchers to spend.SPC ~ 6 ~ MEMBER 18730 -
I've seen a lot about the new console. Looks good. Not quite a PSVita as it needs to remain in range of the base console to work, but it does add a new level to gaming (and unlike the new PS 4 & Xbox, it can play 2nd-hand games).
The Wii fit board tends to take a hammering so you cannot guarantee that the sensors are still accurate.
Must admit though that I am considering using the Amazon vouchers to buy some gifts for Christmas as I am as skint as a skint thing (despite having a job paying nearly £2 p/h more than the one I got made redundant from).
I would really love to go and see Paul Carrick in concert, but am even foregoing this as it is £40 I can allocate to more important things.0 -
Been re-financing some of my debt and have reduced 1 C/C by £10 p/m.
Got a £20 cash-out from 'Rewarded Opinions' headed my way and am within £9 of a Vivatic payout thanks to a couple of surveys done whilst watching the TV.
Things getting stressy at work with more than one temp. hammering-in job applications in order to get out of the place.
I could write a book (and probably will one day) about the back-stabbing and sniping that goes-on inside Siemens and that's just tip of the ice berg.
There seams to be a culture where if one person fails to do their job properly, then everyone in the dept. gets the blame.0 -
We had our all-site meeting today and the guest speaker was Mark Colbourne. For those not in the know, Mark is Para-lympic Team GB cyclist. He competes in the 'C1' class and managed to win 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals as well as breaking a world record in the 3Km pursuit. Add to this, the fact that he has only been cycling as a para-cyclist for 2 years and has already risen to be the world's best in his class, and you have one remarkable gent.
He certainly inspired all of us.
On the down side, the chip on my bank card failed, so I could not get any cash out to give to my o/h to pay for the weekly shop. Que a dash into Town to my bank's branch to get some cash and order a new card before dashing back to the shop before my o/h finished the shop.0
