Am I Doing The Right Thing?

Hello everybody,
I took my situation in hand today and just need to know I have done the right thing. In very short, I have credit card and loan debts and am struggling meeting the minimum payments. I phoned one lender who helped me make a long term arrangement over the phone. I phoned my other lender who wants me to put it in writing but seems willing to come to an arrangement. Am I doing the right thing trying to deal with this myself or should I involve an agency such as CAB to help me?
Many thanks.
Lyns

You don't need to use a 3rd party if you feel up to doing things yourself. Be ready for the avalanche of letters, default notices, phone calls etc. Be aware that you're about to ruin your credit worthiness for the next 6 years. Often these accounts will be passed over to DCAs, so be alert to any underhand tactics such as OTT charges & threats of all kinds. Some are ok, others are not. Do not agree to anything that is beyond your means or looks a bit suspicious. Perhaps use the help of an agency in these cases.
