Lee Stafford do it at home haircut great step by step guide.

I know this has been posted before but it was in the form of a Youtube video which wasn't that explanatory and I am fed up of paying £££ for a haircut I don't like.

So I was googling and found the Daily Mail's Lee Stafford instructed guide with a volunteer doing the steps. Very detailed and seems easy to do and I will attempt it soon. I'm mixed between excited and scared but at the mo I hate my hair :(

wow, let us know how it goes if you do get brave and do it!

I notice that even hairdressers tend not to cut their own hair. I've only ever attempted to cut a fringe on mine.
  • Lol do you know how many new clients I got because of this? So many clients came in to have their hair fixed.

I cut my hair like this and it looks fab if I do say so myself, I've had a fair few compliments so it can't look that bad - unless they are just taking the p :rotfl:. I put the ponytail more to my right side though so that I have a side parting and I don't have a fringe, I just have lots of layers to the side - quite hard to explain. A bit like this:

Just cut it longer than you want it and then take off small amounts until you get the length that you want :)

I cant count the amount of times i have hacked at my hair and my friend has had to fix it for me. Its ok when your hair is fairly long as you can afford to make a few mistakes but not when its short.

I really miss my hairdressing appointments.:(

I have cut my hair before but not using this way and my hair straight and is longer than the volunteers as i'm growing out layers my hairdresser hacked into.

It would be great if I could find a hairdresser who actually did what I wanted at a cheap rate...do they exist :D

Everytime i pay for it to be done I end up going home and cutting bits myself.

I'm not bad with scissors and used to cut my mums hair in a layered bob and my sisters really short when posh spice had that hairdo.

That does not take away the fact that I am scared about doing it

Just cut it longer than you want it and then take off small amounts until you get the length that you want :)

I could definitely cope with these results :)

Just wondering if OP got brave and went ahead and tried this method of haircutting?

I had a go myself this morning. It looks ok, obviously not like a professional haircut, but it looks much better than it did before. If you need a top layer putting in your hair I recommend having a go :)

Lol I did get brave but it turned out a bit different than I anticipated. I should have left my fringe out because I cut it short not sure how but it was very short.

Its grown back now and I haven't attempted again as I am growing out my layers that were really short but are now past my ears. My mum has cut her hair loads like this and hers looks good. I will attempt again but leave my fringe out as I want long layers like the above pic.

Anyone else had any luck? or not :D

I cut a thick fringe into my own hair a few months ago using a different method.
    I love it :)

Just for info, you can put the ponytail anywhere on the head, it depends on where you want the shortest layers to start.

If you put the ponytail at the front like in the daily mail example, you get short layers at the front getting longer towards the back, and it shapes it round the face.

I tried it with the ponytail at the back, on the crown, and got layers getting longer towards the face.
