Advice needed regarding a possible lien on property

OK, I am not sure if this is in the right board on here, but here goes.

To cut a very long story as short as possible, about 12 years ago, I purchased a timeshare in the US.

Since then, absolutely no work has been done on the particular property I "own", and it is very shabby.

Anyway, I have refused to pay my maintenance fees for the past two years because of this, and the owners of the resort have now sent me a letter stating that if i don't clear my debt with them, they will issue a lien against my property with a view to re-posession.

They also tell me that any fees incurred will be my responsibility.

I live in the UK, but can having this lien against my US timeshare have any effect on me here ?

Can it have any effect on me travelling to the US on vacation ?

I have tried to sell the timeshare twice in the past 4 years, but with no interest at all (not an exorbitant price, just enough to clear the debt - about $1200).

I even offered to give the property (timeshare week) to the resort owners for free in lieu of any debt owed, but they weren't interested.

Should I be concerned ?

Has anyone got any advice ?

Thanks,
Kevin.
