Artificial Christmas tree

For one reason or another, we are going to have to buy an artificial tree this year, there is no getting away with it due to a busy schedule.

Anyway, I was thinking of this one and wondered if anyone has bought one in the past and can give me an opinion. Thanks.

I would say that it looks lovely, but possibly a little overpriced - however, if you can afford it, why not!

Ask yourself what you want from a tree? Height, width, any features already attached... And have a look in B&Q! They actually have quite a good range of more reasonably priced trees.

Personally, so I can change colour themes etc each year if desired, I would go for a green tree. The ones with pinecones are nice, but if you have plenty of decs it doesn't really matter if they have them. Mine is tall, but slim (purely down to space at to where it'll be put), and relatively bushy.

It's really down to personal taste, requirements, and budget!

Ultimately, if you're happy with it, go for it.

Thanks, Clare, you have been very helpful. I know it is expensive and I have decided to go to John Lewis tomorrow in the hope that I can see one displayed.

Meanwhile I got a £10 Tesco Direct voucher so I am also going to explore that and we have a B&Q within walking distance.

    Thanks again.

I just saw on Twitter that B&Q will start getting Christmas stuff in their shops from the 19th.
I'm waiting to see their artificial trees too! There aren't many around in any shops yet (other than online) and I really want to see the tree before I get one.

We have a john lewis tree that's been going for well over 15 years, possibly 20! :T

It's only a five footer & has brownish tips to look like a pine tree.

Wasn't anywhere near £140 but I can't remember what we did pay.

It is excellent quality & will probably last another 20 years or so.

Did see a lovely deep purple one last year but wasn't given the chance to buy it (distant garden centre....grrr)...

Have a look around - garden centres do a lot as well.

We have had an artificial tree now for the past 3 years and I wish we had bought one earlier. Always loved real ones but got fed up with the clear up after. Saw an absolute bargain of one in our local store priced at 9.99!! Bought it without another thought and when we went back a couple of days later it was 79.99 so obviously priced wrong. It is 6 ft and really bushy. I have a tree skirt to go around the bottom to cover up the metal legs and it always looks lovely.

Just come back from a trip to John Lewis where I was able to see all of their trees up and decorated. To be honest, there was nothing special about the £140 on, except maybe that it is in 3 pieces, easy to assemble. Still looked a bit bottle brush like for my liking so the hunt goes on. Thanks all.

The one I bought (pretty sure it was B&Q and maybe around £30....6 years ago?!) is in pieces. Has a top bit will all branches attached, then two main 'trunk' pieces and you add 6 branches to about 5 'circles' around the trunk pieces. It's very simple, and you just fluff it out later.

I put lots of decorations on my tree, and it looks great. My old artificial tree that I had inherited from my Mum and was 30 years old was a bit threadbare and I got a Tesco basic range tree for about £20, it looks fantastic.
