    I'm not sure if it is still going but a number of years ago we got loft insulation from the warm homes scheme. Our house at the time already had enough cavity insulation but if it was not insulated they would have done this too.
    We did get some tax credits at the time and had a lower income then so were eligible for full cost of the loft insulation. I think the criteria was a little more open, than the usual meaning more people could avail of the service.
    I'm sure funding is less now due to the economic climate but look up warm homes scheme NI.
    I also remember something about NIE doing something similar.

    I had work carried out last year, funded by PowerNI. They send someone out to do a survey and they arrange the contractor.

    It's still being advertised on their website ;

    The NIHE will provide a grant to insulate your home. You can get details from the NIHE website. They've also just announced grants for homeowners on low incomes to replace old boilers or convert to gas.
  • Airtricity have a scheme where you can get 150 quid toward either or both.
    You need to use their installers, and to be honest, the price I got wasn't that competitive even with the 150 quid off it. His quote was 4x the cost of purchasing the insulation on it's own.
    Think I'll be putting it down myself....

    Power NI also do a £150 grant towards cavity and/or loft insulation. Cavity insulation for a 3-bed semi will cost you £250. B&Q do 200mm thick rolls for £9 at the moment - buy five, roll them out = £45 to do the loft.
