Making Scarfs

I have come accross 4 Balls of Wendy Shimmer wool and 4 balls of Wendy Cosmic wool . I used these to knit scarves some years ago but cannot find patterns at all and was wondering if anyone had one and would be able to let me know details. If I remember correct I used both wools at the same time andd it only took a ball of each, but I have no idea how many stitches/kneedle sizes and how long etc

is this the 'Hairy' multicoloured wool that was all the rage a few years ago? if so, then if I remember rightly, it was knitted on No6 needles and used about 25 stitches to make a skinny scarf which was pulled through a hole about a third of the way up the scarf.
I remember having to buy the No 6 needles as they were the only size I didnt have!
  • Can I check do I need 6mm needles (old number 4) or 5mm (old no 6 needles)? Thanks

When I have made scarves (about the only thing I can knit lol), I have just used needles that feel comfortable with the wool I used, cast on enough stitches to be the right sort of size, then did plain knitting until it was long enough. Mind you, that was with the "eyelash" yarn, so the pattern (and my lack of skill) didn't notice!
  • As you only use equivelant of a single balls of wool per scarf(acually use two balls together one shimmer and one cosmic - have 4 lots of 2 contrasting colours) I don't know if I have a lot of room for error to make sure its long enough so guess I need correct size needles.

tbh - needle size can be adjusted to suit your own taste - nothing wrong with using a slightly larger needle and less stitches if you are after a more 'open' knit. Try with the needles you currently have!

the needles were 6mm - but if you have 5 or 7mm or the equivalents in 'old' then try those! with that sort of yarn it shouldnt make very much difference!
