Due to climate change Buddleia is fast becoming as big a problem as Japanese Knotweed .
Whole swathes of hillside near where I live in West Yorkshire are being carpeted with it and it grows like lightening . BEWARE !

I used to live in a property that had one of these trees in the garden. When I moved, I took my plant pots with me and, in the new house, some buddleia plants started to grow. I was thinking about putting them on the ground. Should I avoid that? How can I check if this is the bad variety? These ones certainly can grow easily.
Thanks!Goal: Win a car (or cash to buy one)! -- Haha goal from when I was a student. Never actually won this but got a good job instead.
What I achieved:
Car paid in full straightaway.
Two properties fully paid. Wohhoooo!0 -
I am really struggling with the website. The code did not work for me so I went to the homepage and found the code, which is different from the op's. Then after about an hour of trying I got through to the basket, added the code and then through to payment. Then added my card details which was being processed. Annoying went to page saying website under maintenance. So I rang them up to find out if my order had gone through and payment taken but they will not be able to tell me until 5pm today when I will have to ring them back again! It's very frustrating because I can't order any now in case payment has already been taken and really wanted to get some.0

Buddleia do seem to self seed, but I live in West Yorkshire too and haven't seen it as an issue. They will seed on derelict land etc. As for being likened to Japanese knotweed, I think that is an exageration, that is a nightmare to kill and buddleia are not.0

These will be fine. Prune them back a bit in autumn and then again harshly in feb/march and they will be fine.0
