It's funny you should mention those books...

My eldest is really in to Dan Brown atm, he's read the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons and only a few days ago I bought him the remaining two books.

I thought I'd done well, 75p each 'good as new' from the local charity shops, although I did have to do 5 before I found them both. Within 24 hours he had read one already!

Don't suppose anyone knows of a similiar author for an 18 year old?

Perhaps you should encourage him to broaden his horizons rather than get stuck in a "Dan Brown" rut.

Howabout "War and Peace" that should last him for more than a day ;)

Others that I would recommend for an 18 year old?

    Hmmm....

"The Catcher in the Rye" - JD Salinger

    "The Trial" - Franz Kafka

    "Vineland" - Thomas Pynchon

"The Man In The High Castle" - Philip K. !!!!!!

"The Outsider" - Albert Camus (Lucky if this lasts an afternoon though ;) )

    "Catch-22" - Joseph Heller

A fairly eclectic lot, but I'm sure he'll manage to find something of interest all on his own though!!!

I have read all 4 of these Dan Brown books-just finished Deception Point yesterday in fact, and I think his books are fantastic. I really enjoyed Angels and Demons, so-so on the DaVinci code, but Deception Point was great as well.

Dont be snobbish about them-I think he is a really great writer

Thanks for the suggestion, but he won't read them. Pity, as we already have most of them, his 16 year old brother loves them
