Socks twisting round foot

I live in trousers so as soon as it starts getting chilly I wear socks. I hate them though. Every pair I own, whether they were cheap or from somewhere like M&S or BHS twist round my foot and the heel bit ends up on the top of my foot. It makes them really uncomfortable and it's driving me mad.
Does anyone else have this problem or is it me? Perhaps I walk funny or something!

Maybe the socks are too big?
Have you tried thicker socks, maybe they wouldn't twist as they wouldn't have as much space in the shoes?0 -
I just buy socks from anywhere and never had that probs..not sure why yours are doing it..do you have thin ankles or something so they arent gripping your leg?***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0

I can only think the socks must be a bit loose around your ankle/heel part? I've never had socks do that exactly, but I've had them twist a bit if they're old or getting loose.0

My socks do that all the time, OH thinks it's hilarious. It's certainly not thin ankles or heels in my case. It doesn't really bother me or feel uncomfortable, but that's probably because I favour very thin socks.
The only socks that don't do it are thick and tight sports socks, especially the ones that have a band of ribbing halfway down the foot.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Hi,
wow, never heard of the wandering sock syndrome.
What you could do is get some of the stick on velcro, a wee bit stuck to foot and bit to inside of sock, then snap together.0 -
It happens to me if i'm wearing wellies but only then. Do you wear loose shoes, sloppy ones maybe?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

No, I don't have thin ankles (wish I did!).sammyjammy wrote: »It happens to me if i'm wearing wellies but only then. Do you wear loose shoes, sloppy ones maybe?
It happens with all shoes that I wear. I mainly wear trainers but also walking boots, wellies. Oh and it always happens when wearing slippersThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I'm a farmer and get it all the time in my wellies. In fact, if i don't sort them they have been known to work themselves right off my foot.
My solution is insulating tape round my ankles (quite tight, but not tight enough to hurt my Achilles). Works a treat but looks a bit naff with shoes!0 -
It happens to me but only in looser shoes as far as I can remember. Trainers, slippers and wellies are all fairly loose or unsupportive, walking boots tend to be purchased larger than 'normal' shoes too.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
