i had same problem with my DS and his bedroom ,so i bought a pet mouse n let it loose in his room ,(we made sure we blocked any holes so couldnt escape first )when he saw it he was mortified and from that day on he brought dishes down, washing where supp 2 go ,etc...mouse went back to pet shop unharmed by the way.x

My DD s room has been a nightmare for over a year, I threw stuff out, did actually put a pic up on FB but set it that only her and I could see it, she was mortified when she thought everyone one could but still didnt tidy it.......then a couple of weeks ago she saw an actual real wild mouse in her room  so we gutted it together, 3 black bin bags of rubbish and 2 for the charity shop!! Caught the wee beggar (and his mate ) in the traps 2 days later but so far so good on keeping the room tidy ;)

    Oh and afternoon everyone

Problem is, after 32 days in the kennels, they have both been weeing in the house  I let them in the garden several times a day, and shout at them if I see them doing it, then put them in the garden, and Molly is getting cleaner, but it is the older dog Bes who is the main problem. And when Bess wees, it is a flood :o. She used to whine and scratch at the back door if she wanted out, but is just weeing by the back door now more often than not :o It wwwould be ok if I could leave the back door open for them, but it is too cold for that, and it is tipping it down with rain right now..

Oh hun, it must be hard work for you especially when its raining & cold out as you don't want the back door open all day. The dogs have obviously just had to go where they were in the kennels and it's sounds like your old girl is struggling to adjust back?
If you can, I would go right back to what you would do with a pup, so every time the dogs do their business in the garden praise them like mad, really go over the top like you would with a pup. Maybe even give them a special treat? With a bit of positive reinforcement fingers crossed they will all get back into the habit of going outside again.
Also I would encourage them to go out the back after every meal, and whenever they wake up from their sleep, just as you would a pup.

Are your dogs big or little hun? Just wondered if you could get a dog flap fitted in your back door if they are little un's? My two are too big lol, but my friend has one for her little beagle and he can come & go into the garden whenever he likes.

Is there anyone near you that does pet sitting? Just thinking that might be a compromise when you are away, so your dogs are in a home environment rather than kennels?

The other thing troubling me is that, despite catching that last mouse, there are signs of others still here. I have so much stuff lying about, it is hard to clear it all when I just don't have the motivation, but having the piles of clutter is what is demotivating me also. Catch 22 situation, and it is all getting on top of me. I was really good when I was away, in good company, but not so good now :(

I have used the humane box traps in the past to catch mice with good success. I used to live in a rented house that was next door to a derelict house that was squatted.:( I was told to bait the traps with chocolate rather than cheese as apparently mice have a sweet tooth. Plus its best to keep all your food in plastic containers/tins or else the food will still attract more mice. I took my captured mice to local woods and we did eventually get on top of the problem. Good luck. x

I sometimes feel a bit down when I've been away then come home. You have obviously been in good company, then coming home to have to face stuff around the house, always a toughy!

Take your time and try to do a little bit a day. When I am struggling, I make a list of things to do and even if you tick off one thing at least you will see some progress and it hopefully won't seem so overwhelming?
    Big hugs,
    MM x
