Feeling a bit low today, Im my mums main carer. She fell in May and has been in and out of hospital since then. She fell again in August and has been in hospital ever since.

She was at home all the school holidays, and as a few of you may remember, i had a 'meltdown' at one point as I couldnt cope with helping her, running her houshold as well as mine, having three kids at home, doing the job of the incompetent professionals involved etc, as well as having to go in between carer visits and during the night.

Anyway, visits mum today, she says the physio has asked her to talk to me about what will happen if she cant go home. How can i tell my mum that I think she would be better in a home, its breaking my heart:(

I know she was not safe at home over the summer, we lurched from one crisis to another, and her ability and mobility is not as good as it was then, so I knew we might have to face this. Shouldnt it be up to the staff on the ward to asses her and advise her about if she can safely go home? Do I have to take on this responsibility and guilt as well?:(:(

On the plus side, I told her about the cheese glitch and she was very impressed:)

they have jsut told my mum she probably has parkinsons, they have thickened her drinks as her swallowing is affected. 'Putting your life on hold' has struck a chord with me, as I feel thats what I have been doing for at least a year since she has been deteriorating. its the kids i feel Ive neglected, but couldnt tell my mum this, it would break her heart and she would go in a home to help me, which would make me guilty for ever.

Lindos90 difficult time and I guess there is no easy answer. You have put that if your Mum went into a home to help you, you would feel guilty forever - perhaps you can look at this from a different perspective - as a Mum what would you do for your children I bet the answer would be anything. Sending you lots of (((((hugs)))))

    Thanks for this!

As you can see, I've been a member of MSE for a long time but only stumbled upon this group recently whilst off sick following an operation.

I'd love to join in as a regular member but every time I pluck up the courage something kicks off.

Thanks to all the genuine posters for the useful information :A I managed to benefit from the APG glitch in a small way & love to see the mutual support amongst the group both with bargain hunting & real life worries.

Hopefully things will settle down & if I'm lucky enough to find a glitch I'll return the favour. ;)

:hello: welcome I have only really been posting on this thread for a few months and love the helpfulness, sharing of information and advice and I hate to see the disruptive and mean posts but as others have pointed out just skim past them and don't respond.

Have a great day everyone :)

There was a SEL up in my Metro yesterday evening showing it for £1, funnily enough there was also a OOS sign on it as well!

    Morning all :)

Just having a wee catch up...

Cold and frosty here this morning, really need to get myself some gloves my poor wee hands were freezing by the time I got to work.
Got a nice hot chocolate to heat me up though :D

Right I'm away to get organised, happy cheese hunting all!

I didn't see the photos in question, but can assume that they were decent, typical family snaps, and put forward as such. Why is this different from finding a rubbish wig pic and making a comment about needing a haircut for instance, or a pic of a nice house and car and passing them off as your own?
Parents need to remember that photos of their children posted on the internet are out there forever and can be seen and used by anyone and for any purpose. In this case it seems that they were used for a relatively benign purpose.

The owner of the bad wig would probably be quite upset to find themself an object of ridicule, but must realise that is the risk one takes when posting photos online.

If you are commenting on the fact that someone used internet pics to make themself out to he somthing they are not. How do we know anyone online is who they say they are? People use all sorts of things to make themselves seem more appealing and fit in. Sad? Quite possibly, bit not for me to say really.
The picture was just that, a family picture, posted with pride. That it has been removed due to adverse reaction here (of all places) reinforces your comments on 'tinternet security. I did consider the poster (of the pic) was somewhat naive at the time but hopefully they are OK and no danage has been done.
Sun is shining so off for a tramp before the rain we have been promised.
