Onions do not like to be planted ,in the same place they have come out of,if you know what I mean.
Dig in some fresh compost and some growmore to make it rich plant onions with only the top showing not too deep,
If you happen to have some fleece hanging around(white flimsy stuff)
cover them over,rain can still get through.
Nothing much will happen for a couple of months and then they will take off,
