Is Autofill acceptable for some comps?

I know there are some comps that don't allow automated programmes like roboform etc..but is something like autofill ok? I use this on IE, seems harmless enough to me but not sure. I do use it alot.

I dare say that someone more knowledgeable will come along soon, but my understanding is that formfillers such as Roboform and Lastpass are ok. When the terms and conditions exclude automated entries, what they are usually seeking to achieve is to stop companies that charge people to enter competitions for them and then use bots to spam the companies with thousands of entries.

Thankyou for the info Marg2k8 - I hope its ok to use, hate to think some of my entries have been for nothing! With all the comps we enter I'd go mad filling them out manually

My thinking is the same as Marg. I'm fairly sure they are trying to stop people who use auto fill to do 100s of entries. And the proof of the pudding is surely how many of us use Robo or another form filler, but still win. GL

i only use roboform and the only issues i have are some forms dont like it and i have to enter manually. As has already been said i think its actual automatic programmes that you cant use.x

Sorry to hijack but i use roboform (i think!) and it fills in my telephone number with '44' at the start rather than the '0'. Do I need to change it back to a 0? I have been doing this so far but am starting to think maybe it doesn't matter and i'm wasting my time!

Ive been doing the same.. My autofill also fills the forms with 44 and didnt know if this was ok? ..

Ok so its on and it may not hurt, but you never can tell, unless youve had a WTC, so as most of the comps you enter will be UK companies, why not give them the number they'd like 01234 567890 rather than a +441234 567890

where you see your identity button hover the mouse over it to bring up the fill forms / fillandsubmit / edit , banner and you should notice on the bottom of that "prefix ?????" and a dropdown arrow, hopefully simply changing it there should eliminate this and give you back the full std code

Fairly sure by 'Automated' they mean something that can spam multiple entries

Doubt they could track a roboform filler unless they all started adding some timer to calulate how quick you can type

Re Tel Nos with Roboform.

Open up your Identity and go to the Custom Tab

In the left hand column ("field name") type "daytime phone". (without quotes)

In the centre column ("field value") type your phone number as you want it to appear.

In the right hand column copy & paste the following...(each on its own line)

home phone
daytime contact number
telephone
daytime telephone number

Don't forget to save changes.

Your phone number should now fill in OK
