Excessive postage Query

Telephone item bought BIN for £6.99 + £3.99 postage - 2nd recorded from business seller.

Item arrives, Cheapo mailing bag - unrecorded 2nd, Postage at £2.20.

Am I alone in being annoyed by this?

Seller states on all his listings that they 'ONLY SEND RECODED (!) TO AVOID SCAMMERS' which has also got my goat!

More of a vent than anything but wondered if I'm being pedantic?

Let the 'calm down dear - its only a quid odd' comments commence!

Item i bid on said £5 postage. I managed to win 4 of them and thought the £5 discount was rather stingy.

Some on here said that was reasonable.

Actually cost them £8 something to send it. So i didnt think so.

So your comment on the last line will probably be coming soon :)

I don't think you're being a pedant. Whether it's £1 or £100; you paid for a service you didn't receive. I'd have been narked too.

I would certainly query that with the seller, give them the chance to realise their mistake and repay the overcharge before doing anything else.

However, £3.99 for £2.20 postage is in my opinion excessive, and selelrs that play that kind of game tend to not last very long

I had pretty much the same thing happen a few weeks back.
Messaged the seller to give them a chance to resolve, asking if there had been a mix up, as they charged me for recorded but sent it standard. There response was - you got this item for much cheaper than it was worth, so you got a a bargain.
Needles to say I hit their feedback & stars appropriately.

I can understand them charging more than the actual postage cost to cover the cost of the packaging.
But you would expect it would still be recorded as per the item.

Mailing bags cost pence each - and PLEASE do not recommend people commit fraud. It's bad enough that people do that in the first place, let alone that someone suggests it on a public forum.

I wouldn't have bought an item from a seller that called me a scammer. Just got one item today sent recorded that wasn't advertised as such, £3 postage, £1.64 charge (which is 69p LL plus 95p recorded) - I marked down as a 4 because I wasn't particularly impressed; neither was I happy with the item as it arrived (the item was advertised as based but taken off the base to send as a cheaper package - which means I now have to mess around with glue etc which I hate).

Some sellers have a death wish - they nickel and dime their customers, and get death by a thousand cuts in mediocre DSRs in return. 4s won't kill them, but they will suggest there's a problem and hopefully get them to act before it's too late. I already bought from them because it was an absolute last resort.

Can sellers see what stars you give them? I thought it was anonymous.

There is a way to check what dsrs have been left.

I check every single feedback and check stars, its long winded to do it but sometimes you get a bit of a shock.

I sent a parcel, a big parcel, it was made of plastic so was fragile. It was perfectly boxed, used lots of bubble wrap, and then wrapped it in airbags.

I think I charged £5 postage, but it cost a bit more to send never mind the airbags and bubble wrap and tape etc.

The parcel arrived undamaged and the buyer left me a 2 for post and packing costs.:mad::mad:.

I have had a 3 for dispatch time, when the parcel was posted a few hours after they paid and they received it the following day.:eek::eek:.

This really annoys me. As a seller, I always charge p+p at the ost of postage plus 15pence which covers the mailing bag (cost 14pence) plus lots of bubble wrap which I buy for £20 for a 100 mtr roll.

I always post either same day, or if bought after 3pm, the next day, including Saturday. Everything is posted RM 1st class, and I have been frequently marked down for postage charges (1 buyer left a DSR of 1, others seem to leave 3s). I've also been marked down for dispatch time.

Obviously I think that my charges are reasonable, others appear not to! What are people's views on free p&p, where I'd add the postage cost on to the price? Do you look past the headline price at the total cost, or do you think sales would be impacted as a result?
