Legal & General MPPI

Hi
I was sold MPPI via an independent mortgage advisor (MANNING STAINTON) and lender Legal & General, could I still make a claim?
The actual mortgage was with the Halifax. The mortgage advisor knew I was struggling with mortgage payments but insisted on me purchasing Mortgage payment protection, life insurance, home insurance etc all with Legal & General suprisingly! I cancelled all policies in 2011 but they had all been running since 2003. I have no paperwork as threw it all out in disgust when I closed the accounts.
With PPI not being through the actual mortgage company I am unsure as to whether I can claim the 8 years PPI @ £60 a month.
Any advice would be appreciated. Even if its advice saying forget about it you cant claim!
many thanks
Dave

Claim or complaint? I am going to assume complain.
Manning Stainton use Mortgage Advice Bureau who are tied sales reps of Legal & General (not independent for insurance)The mortgage advisor knew I was struggling with mortgage payments but insisted on me purchasing Mortgage payment protection, life insurance, home insurance etc all with Legal & General suprisingly!
They would use L&G as they are tied sales reps of L&G. They are not allowed to use anyone else. You have to buy home insurance as that is a mandatory requirement. Their business model also requires you to buy insurances through them to get the free mortgage advice. A very common L&G sales rep model and one that is allowed.
That means you bought 2 years before regulation.I cancelled all policies in 2011 but they had all been running since 2003.With PPI not being through the actual mortgage company I am unsure as to whether I can claim the 8 years PPI @ £60 a month.
1 - you have given no reasons for complaint or wrongdoing
2- it is pre-regulationI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
£60 per month - so no single premium complaint.
Struggling to repay mortgage - you would struggle even more if your income stopped.
So there seems to be no missale.
Cancelling your house insurance was a breach of your mortgage conditions and very foolish.0
