carrot coloured Lock 'n'lock

My lovely DD 'borrowed' one of my precious lock'n'lock boxes to take some soup to work. Not a problem as I knew she is dieting and thought well if she's having soup she'll stick to her diet (she works at a school and the cooks there are always sending food over to her office hence the dieting :):))Well she brought me back my box the other day only she had used it for carrot and coriander soup and although she had washed it out it is badly stained a lovely orange colour Anyone know how to get the colour out without ruining the box.I bought it at John Lewis' and they were quite pricey when I bought them.If it won't come out it may have to be assigned as the box that hold tomatoey stuff in future :):)

You could try a sterilising tablet, milton type. I have used that with some success to remove orangey stains from a plastic jug...

Don't scrub it with anything that may scratch the plastic or it will never come off!

    Good luck :)

I would use a mild bleach solution and then rinse well several times. This should remove the stain with out the need to scourer and scratch the surface.

I've had probs in the past with plastic jugs used in the microwave for soup (usually tomato based tho, not carrot) and they never seem to come back properly unfortunately but they do fade over time.

I didnt ever try anything specific to get rid of the taint but what about good old bicarb and vinegar? and for some reason I am thinking milk might work but I dont know why or where on earth I got that one from! and I agree dont scrub - use the "sit and soak" approach x

I just googled and other suggestions for tomato type stains (so may help?) include leaving out in sunlight (or on a windowsill) or try denture tablets if you know anyone that has some?
