Hi I have £27000 of debts from a previous marraige .
I want to get rid of theses debt
I currently only pay £1 to 7 Creditors except one which has caught up with me throuh my ex wife as we had a joint account but i accepeted it as part of my divorce and no one knows where i am and havnt for a few years.
I can start paying about £150 a month to clear theses debts but will bankruptcy be a better idea as it will take years to pay off.
I no longer work and live on a couple of pensions. When you go bankrupt or do a dmp do you have to provide proof of utility bills.. As i have moved in with my eldery father to look after him after a fall and heart attack.
Just dont what to do for the best., Paul
Thank you

Blimey! You're not my ex Paul are you?!
Surely not!
Running away from your debt will eat you up. Start facing up to the debt and then you can get on with your life.
Contact the CCCS and make a payment plan. You can start sending out your letters and hopefully get the interest removed. You'll then be able to put your £150 towards your debts rather than the interest. Then you can get a job, your self-esteem will improve and life will start to get better.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks for your reply .. sorry for my ignorance but what is a cccs.. With regards to a job i am better off not working which is crazy but true I get a war pension and would lose half if i get a job and would have to pay tax and more maintenace i get enough in pensions to live on and too busy for work lol0

CCCS stands for consumer credit counselling service. They are a charity who give completely free advice. They can look at you finances and make you a plan. There is also an online planner which you should have a look at. Their address is:
https://www.cccs.co.uk
If you fill in the info online, you get an instant personal debt remedy. They can also send you a pack so that you can self-manage. The CCCS will have helped turn absolutely loads of people's lives around on here. Contacting them was truly one of the best things that I have ever done!0 -
