Barclay's CC application -slow.

I applied online for a Barclays CC (I know, but I need a card to build credit, as I only have a fair rating, and they are my bank, so I thought I might stand a better chance with them) about 2 and a half weeks ago.
I had heard nothing one way or another, so gave their CC centre a call, to be told that there is a delay on the website, due to tecnical problems.
Thing is....they didn't even bother to take my details and see what was happening.
Does anyone know if they are indeed having technically caused delays - or do they just not care?

I'd pop into a branch and try applying there?
If they do have two applications they will soon tell you but if the website does have a problem your application could be lost in cyberspace forever!
