How many to cater for?

I am planning a surprise birthday party for my wife. SHHHHhhhh

The party is going to be at a pub with a function room and I have about 65 people that have RSVP to say they are coming. So how many to cater for?

There will be a birthday cake which will be extra to the food. The food will just be normal party finger food, nothing fancy. As its going to be a film themed party I am planning on getting some pop corn to have about as well.

I really dont want to waste a load of food at the end of the night and as with everything spending less money on food would be good as I could then spend that on other things.

Thanks.

I would cater for about 45 people. Some have dinner before the come out, some are fussy beggars who won't eat anything, and some of the rsvp's might not show :)

I agree 45-50 would be a good number to plan for. I have planned and catered for many family gatherings, 12-200 guests and so far no one has complained of not having enough food, people wouldn't be so rude they will enjoy being together with you all.

Thanks for the advice, I will be ringing the pub tomorrow to sort out the food. :) Exciting apart from how much I will have to pay lol.
