I have had it drained once and its back again.
I went private when i found the lump the first time and they drained it, went back again a year later and he said I would probably keep getting it back as im "very cysty" and not to worry if its lumpy in the same place.
I just worry now that I wouldnt know if something more serious happens on that spot.
Anyone else have a cyst that keeps coming back?

It's entirely your choice but if you live in England, your GP can refer you to the breast clinic very quickly.............so private treatment might not have many advantages over NHS treatment.;)
How long will I wait for an appointment?
In England, guidance from the Department of Health says that all patients referred by a GP to a specialist with breast symptoms, even if cancer is not suspected, should be seen within two weeks. Until recently, if your GP felt the referral was urgent, you would be seen within two weeks of them requesting an appointment for you. If it was non-urgent you may have waited longer. It may take some time before this guidance is implemented in all areas so if you have queries about the waiting time for your appointment, talk to your GP.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. If you go to the breast clinic, they'll do the same investigations as they would if it was a new lump you'd found (mammogram and/or ultrasound, then biopsy if it looks suspicious) because they're cautious of saying "it's just your cyst back" when, as you say, there could be something else in the same place.0

My mum get's breast cysts a lot and has had some drained. The trouble is they are so likely to come back afterwards. Just keep checking and if anything worries you go back straight away without hesitation.
I've had three operations for cysts in the last 10 years so i know how you feel. It worries me that i'll become complacent and think "its just a cyst" but if i ever get another i'm going to dart back!0 -
I have had cysts drained regularly for the last 15 years or so, I've also had a fibroadoneama removed (benign fatty lump) in 1993.
You don't need to go private, go to your GP and ask them to refer you to your local breast clinic. The team there will examine you, probably ultrasound scan the area and drain it/them. You may not get an ultrasound every time, you may get draining by the radiographer as they scan you, the Dr may just drain it.
At the end of the day, they are the experts, they see & feel them every day, so they will be best for advice & examination.
Oh, and the consultant you saw privately last time? They will probably be the one you see in the NHS clinic.0 -
Yes, I found a lump. It proved to a cyst and was drained, the consultant found one in the other breast which I hadn't.
They do come back. DD has the same problem.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

yes, have had cysts drained and keep coming back, had one removed once and then a year later found another - so GP refers me to local breast unit, see them a few weeks later for a quick check by nurse, then ultrasound/draining them.
I just keep an eye on it, if they come back, best to check them out than leave it really.0
