Sorry Ixy - I really could not see an option which covered my situation.
My BR was related to my business (sole trader) but I can not, in all honesty, say that the circumstances were TOTALLY beyond my control.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Sorry Ixy, none of those really apply to me either. I was neither an idiot or deserted or lost my job. To be fair there probably was a time when the situation was under our control and I could not honestly say that circumstances out of my control caused them. We were in 'ddenial' in the sense we didn't realise quite what was going on I guess, but none really fit.
1) Certainly didn't give up caring. (Well haven't yet anyway)
2)Not an idiot, though perhaps in denial
3)Perhaps denial, but did care
4)Partner is defo still here
5)Didn't have a job (little kids) OH still has his
6)Other circumstances (perhaps) truly outside of my control (bit of a cop out)
Think you need an option along the lines of 'Juggled money for years, escalated out of control.'
Or 'Consolidation loan one too many', 'Gambling addiction'
To be honest your optrions are really narrow, and many say the same in different ways. At the same time they are too specific.
In all honesty our debts got to big for us, and when we realised that we weren't paying for utilities, we sought advise. We were advised to go BR. I didn't even know what it was at the time.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -

Hi Ixy,
I always vote on polls because I believe in democracy but none of the options relate to our circumstances; just thinking about it, none of the current political parties really reflect my views on politics and economics, not quite sure where that leaves me really.
We owed approx £230k business and personal debts and all we've got to show for it is some absolutely outstanding memories and a few regrets; and of course a business plan of outstanding potential that some lucky venture capitalist will get a 49% stake of a hugely profitable business, "c'est la vie".

I can`t fit my circumstances to the poll so have not voted.
