Question about Tesco and refunding difference when they make a mistake

I bought 2 x Lurpak 500g tubs this morning in my local Tesco Express which were marked up as 2 for £4, £3.10 each. I got charged £6.20 but didn't notice as I had other shopping and had gone through the Self Serve till.
I then queued up to see a real person and they refunded me the difference - should this have been double the difference, as I know they had changed the policy on their refunds....
And if it should be double, what do I do about the other part they didn't refund?
Well I phoned their head office and they have confirmed it should have been double the difference, have asked me to go back into store and give them a code from their system and they will give me the other £2.20 they should have refunded earlier, so policy is definitely DTD.

I usually find Tesco quite good about refunds, no questions asked. Could have been the assistant didn't know their policy. A bit of a nuisance to have to go back though.
IlonaI love skip diving.

Thankfully it's not too much of a pain as it's directly opposite my daughter's school, so I have to go in that general area anyway.0

A true experience was when my Hubby went to complain about being overcharged a while back.
The assistant took some money out of the till and handed back just the difference. Hubby asked for double the difference and the assistant stated it ONLY applied to certain purchases!!!
He asked for a head office email address and her name to complain and lo-and-behold she handed over the rest of the money out of her hand without going back to the till...............................
....................... no she wouldn't have done ................................ would she?? lol
Just stand your ground as it's a Company Policy, not the assistants policy.
Just wished it happened more often.
*** Just to add: It wouldn't do any harm politely when asking for a refund by saying, "At least Tesco do the decent thing and pay double the difference".
