I am assuming you worked from 6 April 2006 until August 2006.

Did you hand in your P45 to the job centre when you made the calim? if so, assuming they have processed the claim properly, they are responsible for issuing the refund following the end of the tax year. Contact them to find out if this is the case.

If you did not hand in you P45, or if they have not processed it, you will have to wait for a P60U from the job centre, and send that along with your copy (part 1a)of the P45 from your previous employer to your local tax office. To find out who that is, contact HMRC and they will give you the address.

If you cannot find your copy of the p45, contact your previous employer and ask for a statement of earnings, this will be sufficient.

cheers, yes this is the 1st time i have been out of work,Finshed end of aug 2006 and handed my p45 in when i had interview etc at benefits office, i phoned tax office up a while ago and was told that if i just send my p45 part a like you say off with a covering letter i will get a refund that way, receieved a letter off them last like stating that they now need my p60 to be able to do anything because i may have earned more money, i told them that i hadnt the only money i got was my JSA. So hopefully i will get this off the benefits?

the best thing to do is contact the benefits office and ask if they are issuing the repayment. If they are not ask why. Then ask when you will be likely to receive the P60U
