Dupe idea

This might be good or chrysanthemum, I haven't decided myself yet.
If someone posts and it's a dupe, what's everyone's opinion on the dupe finder posting their search terms? I know some do it anyway, I just thought it might be a subliminal thing to help reasonably new posters know what to search for if they want to post a comp? I also know some people might not take notice but who knows.
Anyway, enough of the ideas, back to being an irritant, as someone called me on here

Good idea.

Seems a reasonable suggestion that I'll try & include in the future.
I'm just slightly fearful that some will be irritated by it & will not see it as guidance but as points scoring.
I've just got into a habit of using a standard format when posting re a dupe.
Personally I think many dupes on here are due to members just searching with full links that have been emailed to the them.If they were stripped back that dupe would probably be seen.
Some of the others can be put down to Op's not posting any primary or direct links so making spotting harder when both are not searched on later.0 -

I agree with that, I usually put what search term I used, but sometimes they seem so obvious that it does look like you're being 'funny' about it.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I like the idea, as anyone else searching the comp later will also come across the post and avoid duping again
.
I guess it could sound patronising, particularly if someone's had a bad day we know nothing about- such is the nature of forums. Usually a "Thanks for posting" orcan help.
When I post a comp I try and remember to add the terms I've searched before doing so. (Usually the stripped-right-back URL or other key words. This isn't infallible tho', as I've discovered!)

Some for, some against, a proper debate!
It's a shame that some people would take it as points scoring, much more important things in the world to be worried about, besides there's always the safety wink if you think someone is irked by your posting
Everyone will do it their own way anyway but I thought it was nice to get an idea out there, they don't come along too often, the printable ones anyway!Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...
