The above was first item in a Google search I entered with "management accountant" searching the whole web.

How did you get on with your interview for an Accounts Assistant on 21 March?

    Hi
I think as the job is for a trainee they will be unlikely to ask you any technically difficullt questions (still good to know the basics of what is involved though), but probably just as important will be to find out a bit more about the organisation. Good sources of information include their website if they have one, their annual report, and press coverage etc.
There are also lots of good website with general interview questions that it may be useful to prepare answers to e.g. why do you want to work with us? where do you see yourself in 5 years time? etc.

    Good luck

Be clear as to exactly what the firm does. That will determine what type of work you could expect to be doing.

For example, if they are a factory, producing say, widgets, the management accounting role will probably involve recording and working out the costs of making the widgets, compared with the costs of selling them, giving the profits. You would have to break down the costs, sales and profits into different types of widgets. You would have to analyse how the costs were arrived at, how to share the "overheads" between products, etc.

If however the firm was say a solicitors, management accounting would probably concentrate on analysing time spent by each staff per client, reporting on which clients were more profitable than others, which staff members were most productive, etc.

The role will be VERY different depending on the firm's activities.
