Default not showing as settled...??

Morning all
My OH defaulted with a mobile phone contract over 2 years ago, and says that he paid the full amount off. I ordered his credit files, and none of them show it as settled, although the callcredit one (which shows amounts owing each month) says he owes them nothing.

What should we do? He doesnt have the paperwork to show he paid it off unfortunately... should we write to the phone company? I really want to repair this... fixing his credit report slowly but surely :D xx

  • Write to the company and ask them to provide your OH with a letter advising the default was settled and ask them to update Experian & Equifax as soon as possible.

  • Forgot to mention, the default will be on his credit file for 6 years though, getting it marked as settled doesn't remove it unfortunately, I had a default about 4 years ago for £80 with Barclays Bank (charges!!) and although I settled it as soon as they told me, they issued a default very quickly, it's still on my file, although I have been able to obtain credit successfully for a car and have a credit card.
