Employers Credit Checking Candidates

Just a quick question, I recently applied for a new job and the application said that candidates would be subject to a credit check.

I could understand this if I was working in the finance industry or something but I am not.

Now, my credit rating isn't the best after a few stupid years when younger but I am slowly but surely getting back there. Will the credit check just be to verify who I say I am or will my scored actually be taken into consideration ? and what sort of impact will it have on my credit file ?

Just a bit confused by it all.

Any help would be appreciated.

You sure it wasnt a CRB check ?

I cant understand why you would be credit checked if the job is non financial.
