Hope someone can help here. My wife is looking to expand her business by taking on a helper.
Can anyone let me know if the Job Centre charge to advertise a vacancy with them?
Many thanks

No they don't charge but be prepared for a huge response as the job centre will make everyone apply for it! be as specific as you can on the ad to ensure only people with the criteria wanted can apply!0

Depending on the vacancy, the industry it is in and the qualifications required, contact your local FE College who will have a bank of students looking for employment and may be able to offer some free, Pre-Employment Training.0

No they do not charge and that's why every crap job in the history of the world will be on there.0

Looking at some of the people who hang around outside the job centre, I'd think that if you advertised there, you'd quite possibly (with a few exceptions) get the dregs of society applying.0

Often (repeat, OFTEN, not ALWAYS), the people who are keen to get into employment do what they have to at JCP and then go and carry on with job searching rather than hang around JCP.0 -

Exactly, and the scrotes just seem to hang around outside there all day, smoking fags...0 -
Yes, you do get a lot of timewaster applications when you use the job centre, due to people applying just to meet their weekly quota, but it takes a couple of seconds glance at their applications to spot them and pull them out.
You do also get good quality candidates. Anyone can search the jobcentre vacancies on-line so you also get applications from people who are currently employed, and not everyone who is unemployed and signing on are 'dregs', and I'm sure a lot of people reading this board are very offended by that.
We do all our recruitment through Jobcentre and find very well qualified and experienced staff that way. Many of our new employees had been made redundant, or were on fixed term contracts, or are returning to work after raising a family - not unemployed due to any fault of their own.
I'm sure wherever you advertise you get a lot of timewasters anyway

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0
