How do you normally hear about your wins?

Hi All,

I am new to comping and its getting addictive!

I was wondering how people normally heard they had a win? Is it most common in an email, phone call or letter?

For me the 2 big prizes i have won have both been a phone call. The smaller prizes have all been emails with a few just turning up on my doorstep out of the blue.

Most of my wins have just turned up on my doorstep but for my big wins, I've had mainly phone calls.

I have had a real mixture, but I would say the majority have been emails.

I love it when they just turn up though!!

One of the joy's of comping - you never know what your day will bring!

most wins just turn up, only had 1 phone call in over 2 years of comping & I think that was because the prize was a short notice event - run on the tuesday for a saturday event .

Mine have all been WEM's so far apart from one turning up randomly.

When you say they just turn up on your doorstop, do you mean they come in the post with no warning? Or someone from the company actually comes to your door?

I'm sure they mean they are delivered by the postie or a courier. Most of my wins have been that way, but I've also had a number of WEM. I've never yet had a genuine winners phone call.

I think it's some sort of rite of passage when you get your first fake winners phone call. Not quite as scary as it sounds, I just mean when they phone up and say something like, "You recently entered a competition to win an Ipad"

"Yes? Yes? Yes?" You stammer, starting to shake with expectation.

Then they say, "Well...[long pregnant pause]...by doing that you authorised us to call you to offer you an insurance quote..."

They come in the post.
