Curry's insurance scam

Options
I bought an item from Curry's 5 months ago. This morning I received my statement from my Bank for the lat 6 months transactions. It would appear that Curry's have been taking out £13.00 a month for an insurance I certainly did not agree to. I rang them immediately and was told in no uncertain terms I must have forgotten signing the form for the said insurance. Despite my protests, I was told that they were not at fault as it would of been explained in detail when I purchased the goods. IT WAS NOT!!!! The man I spoke to was very rude and offered to cancel the insurance but refused to repay the monies taken from my account as in his opinion I knew what I was signing. I am sooooooooooooooo angry. Having looked up on the net, it would appear the same thing has happened to many, many people. Yet they are still getting away with it!

    This isn't PPI, of course.
If you've signed for an extended warranty there is little you can do to get a refund from the past five months. You can make a complaint that you were not told about the insurance, but Curry's will simply wave the documentation you signed to say that you did agree to it.

In this situation I'd cut your losses and simply cancel. In future, read carefully the forms you are about to put your signature to.

    Sorry.
  • Did you ask them for a copy of the contract they say you signed. That would be the first thing I would do.

It is an additional service, offered at the time of sale. If it took you six months to spot you were paying for the additional amount, you might find other were similarly innatentive - but that would not be a black matk for Curry's. Simply the purchaser not making his wishes known clearly.

It will be offered, and unless the customer explicitly declines, it will be added and the cost shown on the bill. What did it say on your purchase receipt for the money you paid over?
