Defaults should only appear on your report for six years. If it was registered on your Experian report over six years ago it will have been removed now. Perhaps you should explore why it is still showing with the other CRAs. Defaults should not be re-registered.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have a feeling that it was removed due to the agreement I had with the lender. It was definitely on my Experian report in 2009 (how I found out I had it).
Not sure why they did not remove it from my other reports though0 -

Just wanted to give an update and thanks to everyone in this thread.
Not only did I get a mortgage offer from the Halifax and am weeks away from moving into my new house, but Santander apologised and removed the defaulted account with all credit reporting agencies.
